Ibis – Ibis
At the end of 1972, the New Trolls split: Nico Di Palo (vocals/guitar), Gianni Belleno (drums), Maurizio Salvi (keyboards), and Frank Laugelli (bass) remained together for a new album under the name Ibis; Vittorio De Scalzi continued with other musicians. After two recording projects and lineup changes, the group recorded their third album, Ibis (on the Polydor label in 1975), considered their most mature album. The progressive rock leanings are evident with songs like "Premessa," but there are also jazz references in "Strada," the heartfelt homage to the Queen of the Blues (Dedicated to Janis Joplin), and the influences of American rock can be heard in the irresistible closing "Keep on Movin'."
