Only 99 copies were printed and sold exclusively on the record company's website, and they immediately went out of print. This one I'm offering in this auction is copy number 29.

After Collage, Le Orme achieved popular success with Uomo di Pezza, but instead of continuing with songs, they upped the ante and attempted what became known as a concept album: Felona e Sorona.

1973 was the golden year of Italian pop. Le Orme sensed this creative impulse in the air and created one of the finest albums of the '70s.

Recording took place in early 1973 at the Fonorama studio in Milan. The lineup included Aldo Tagliapietra on bass, vocals, and guitars, Michi Dei Rossi on drums and percussion, Antonio Pagliuca on keyboards, and Gian Piero Reverberi on artistic production and arrangements.

The cover is by Convertino, who had previously collaborated on the album Collage. Lanfranco's painting shows male and female figures, front and back, representing the sunny and dark sides, like the two planets Felona and Sorona, siblings but distant. One radiant with light, the other unhappy and dark.

Today, Felona e Sorona delle Orme turns 50 and is being re-released. It's wonderful to lose yourself in this masterpiece that catapulted the Venetian band to the pinnacle of Italian progressive rock.
